The Education Foundation of Okeechobee plays an integral part in supporting education in our public schools. With 37.3% of Okeechobee’s children living in poverty, we know our schools can’t do it alone. We work collaboratively with school leaders to determine how and where private sector investment and volunteer involvement can have the greatest impact on student success. We connect community to classrooms to innovate learning, power potential, and celebrate success.
Through several of our initiatives, we have provided much needed supplies to students, helped graduating seniors access financial aid for college and prepared local teenagers to enter the workforce. The Foundation believes that college and career readiness begins the moment a child steps into school for the first time which is why our various programs support K-12. This important work is accomplished largely by the support of generous donors who contribute to the Foundation. This year’s goal is to raise funds, which will allow us to expand our programs as well as to develop the infrastructure necessary to significantly grow the Foundation’s services to our public schools. By becoming a “Children’s Champion” you will be directly contributing to the growth of our students and teachers. We believe engaged and connected communities lead to teacher and student success.
